It’s 1972, road race history is about to change. The older riders give room to a new generation of youngsters and new categories appear.

Checco Costa, father of Doctor Costa, who later on would start his mobile clinic and a medical service still active in MotoGP today, takes on the initiative of bringing an American race to Italy towhich Daytona owes its fame.

The 200 Miles of Imola are born!

A start that brings along a big surprise from the beginning: at merely a few hours after the start of the race, the Englishman Paul Smart brings his fantastic Ducati Desmo to an astonishing victory.

Through the years, this event becomes one of musts of the season, featuring great names such as Giacomo Agostini, Marco Lucchinelli, Kenny Roberts, Steve Baker, Christian Sarron, Patrick Pons, Michel Rougerie, Johnny Cecotto and many others, confirming or even revealing their talents during the race.

Such an event just couldn’t be left forgotten!

It’s been a while since Christian Jupsin and the DG SPORT team have been breeding on the idea of bringing the successful formula of the BIKERS’ CLASSICS of Spa-Francorchamps to Italy.

Many efforts later, their goal was achieved and the first weekend of October 2010, ancient bikes will find their way back to their home track: the mythical circuit Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola!

The schedule of this first edition of the 200 Miglia di Imola Revival will be identical to the one of the Bikers’ Classics in Spa-Francorchamps. That is a track reserved for riders with bikes built before 1980 divided in different groups and also several parades featuring many great champions riding their bikes that lead them to victory.

An event you cannot miss out on that will lead spectators as well as riders to the welcoming region of Emilia Romagna, home and heart of the Italian mechanical sports.
